The Moving Company
The Moving Company is the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s modern dance performing group. It is under the auspices of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, and auditions are open to all University students and members of the Omaha community. It is an intergenerational company with a mission to create new works and to restage historical pieces. UNO does not have a dance major or minor so the Company members include students from various disciplines ranging from engineering to criminal justice to communications. The Company has been in existence since 1935 (called Orchesis in the early years) and has sponsored residencies and/or master classes with numerous companies and artists including Alwin Nikolais, Alvin Ailey, Bill Evans, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Joffrey Ballet, Pilobolus, Victoria Marks, Carol Mezzacappa, Sara Pearson, Patrik Widrig, Shirley Ririe, and Jeff Curtis.

Film Streams

In July 2007, we opened the Ruth Sokolof Theater, our two-screen cinema located within the Saddle Creek Records development in downtown Omaha.

Nebraska Independent Film Projects
NIFP was created and received a 501(c)3 status in 1991 as an educational and fiscal support group for Nebraska filmmakers. Ragazzi Children and Ragazzi Youth Children’s Choirs
Ragazzi Children and Ragazzi Youth Children’s Choirs, are two of choirs of the Nebraska Children’s Choruses. With a mission to share the great gift of choral music, inspire new generations with a love of singing, and broaden its reach to all ages and cultures, the eight choirs of the Nebraska Choral Arts Society, the parent organization of the Nebraska Children’s Choruses, comprises nearly 400 singers throughout the greater Omaha area from ages 8 to 80.

Omaha Area Youth Orchestras
The Omaha Area Youth Orchestras (OAYO) was established in 1958 and consists of 7 ensembles that provide instruction and performance opportunities for over 550 students each season. Students audition annually for positions within five progressively more challenging ensembles or may be recommended by their school or private teacher for positions within two non-auditioned orchestras. OAYO participants range in age from 8 to 18 and are from over 100 schools and 20 schools districts in the Omaha Area.

Omaha Black Music Hall of Fame
After years of discussion and research on how to best recognize the city’s talented African American musical heritage, the Omaha Black Music Hall of Fame was established in 2005. The nonprofit organization is the brainchild of Vaughn Richard Chatman, a graduate of Omaha Central High School and a former musician who now resides in California. Vaughn admits that “had it not been for music,” he probably would not have finished high school.

Omaha Chamber Music Society
Since its founding in 2000, the Omaha Chamber Music Society has brought outstanding chamber music to the greater Omaha community. The centerpiece of the Society’s season is its Summer Concert Series, a series of full-length chamber music concerts by professional musicians from the greater Omaha area. For the first seven seasons, the Summer Concert Series was presented at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. After a hiatus in 2008, the Omaha Chamber Music Society is very excited to announce that its 2009 Summer Concert Series will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Church. Saint Margaret Mary’s will be a wonderful setting for our concerts – with a beautiful and acoustically attractive sanctuary, as well as easy access and plenty of parking.

Organ Vesper Series
The Organ Vesper Series had its birth in the dedicatory concert of the Hutching-McFarland-Beaudry organ on September 25, 1988. At that time a series of programs featuring the organ in a number of roles was planned. No ongoing series of concerts was anticipated. The first program of chamber music in what was to become the Organ Vesper Series was played by a group of Omaha musicians named for the occasion, The Organ+Plus Chamber Players. This group included Kenneth Peeler, Mary and Craig Bircher, Robert Jenkins, Margaret Lim and Dana Sloan.

Playing With Fire
“Playing With Fire” began in 2004 as a gift to the citizens of the City of Omaha. It was the dream of businessman, Jeff Davis, former CEO of Davis Erection. to share the music he loves with a city he loves. Thanks to the City of Omaha, several corporate sponsors, and numerous dedicated volunteers, that dream culminated in a hugely successful five-concert series held at Lewis & Clark Landing, Riverfront Drive, on the banks of the Missouri River.

Third Chair Chamber Players
The Third Chair Chamber Players ( TCCP) formed in 1997 as an organization of professional musicians dedicated to playing chamber music. It is an organization that believes in nurturing musicians and audiences. TCCP has dedicated itself to giving audiences the opportunity to experience the wonderful, engaging and varied repertoire of chamber music and provide educational programs encouraging participation in playing chamber music. TCCP was organized by musicians who loved and needed a chamber music opportunity. The organizational founders of the group were Karen Sandene and Becky Van de Bogart. The origin of the name? Becky was the piccolo chair in the orchestra or the third chair and Karen was the contra bassoon in the bassoon section or the third chair and it has stuck.

Tuesday Musical Concert Series
The Tuesday Musical season is unlike anything else offered in Omaha. For four evenings a year, Omahans are treated to classical performances by internationally known artists. All concerts are in the Witherspoon Concert Hall at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bellevue Little Theatre
The Bellevue Little Theatre, Sarpy County’s only performing arts center, entertains thousands of people annually with professionally produced performances of live theatre at reasonable prices. The Theatre’s season consists of five productions–2 musicals and 3 plays–scheduled between September and June. Their reputation for quality entertainment is evident from the numerous awards bestowed by the Theatre Arts Guild (TAG) for outstanding productions, individual performances, and creative direction and designs.

We are a group of artists from Bellevue, Nebraska and numerous area communities, including Omaha, Plattsmouth, and Papillion to name a few. Soaring Wings Vineyard
We are a family run operation at Soaring Wings. The land was purchased in 2001. The history of the land goes way back. Many Indian artifacts have been found on the land and it is suspected that it was the site of an Indian settlement or encampment. In the 1800′s farming operations began on the land. Operations in the Vineyard began in March of 2002 with winery operations commencing in August of 2003.
