Creations by Valerie
Valerie Robert grew up near the shores of Lake Champlain. After marrying, she traveled with her military husband throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. After retiring from the military, she and her husband and two children settled in Southeast Nebraska. Since the kids have long since grown and started families of their own, the artist has spent the last several years pursuing her two passions–writing and photography. Check out the artist’s beautifully created note cards and framed and matted photographs.

Artist Statement
My artwork mixes political and personal statements about the world around me through dark imagery and wordplay. When these feelings are expressed in a creative art form, they become and integral part of the artist’s culture. I pull from my heart, my heritage, and life experiences. My art will always reflect ConAlma (Latino soul) regardless of the image I put on canvas.”

Papillion Area Concert Band
The Papillion Area Concert Band (PAC Band) was organized in the summer of 1986. Mr. Ken Molzer, the founder and director of the band, surveyed the area with the aid of the Papillion Parks and Recreation Department to determine if there were enough interested musicians to form a community band. The response was overwhelming and the first two concerts were held in the city park that summer. Since that time, enthusiasm has grown. The band not only performs during the summer in the park, but also rehearses once a month during the school year and performs a winter concert in conjunction with the Papillion Lions Club at the Papillion-La Vista High School Auditorium.

Rotten Potter
RottenPotter is a collection of my work and represents my creative philosophy, outlook, and attitude. I don’t generally like to refer to myself as an artist. Art can be associated with many different people and ideas, and I prefer to be known as a painter or potter. Just about anyone can be seen as an artist in one way or another. Some artists and artwork we appreciate or admire, others we dislike or despise. ‘Art’ and ‘Artist’ have many different interpretations, and I want to avoid confusion in regards to my work and myself.
